Definition : Monitoring systems designed to evaluate the physiologic response of a person to physical stress, typically while the individual is performing exercise on a treadmill, bicycle ergometer, or other equipment. These systems are used mostly to diagnose coronary artery diseases, to differentiate between cardiac and pulmonary diseases, and to diagnose and/or monitor the course of pulmonary and vascular diseases.
