Monitors, Bedside, Respiration, Apnea

Definition : Respiration monitors designed to detect the cessation of breathing (apnea). These monitors typically sense respiration indirectly (e.g., by detecting changes in the electric impedance of the thoracic cavity using mechanical attachments); some others use more direct methods such as thermistors and carbon dioxide sensors. Apnea monitors typically measure other breathing parameters, such as respiratory rate or volume of air; they usually include audible and visual alarms and allow the user to set threshold limits for the time span needed to activate the alarms.

Entry Terms : "Impedance Pneumograph Monitors" , "Apnea Monitors" , "Impedance Pneumograph Bedside Monitors" , "Apnea Monitors, Recording" , "Vital Signs Monitors" , "Apnea Monitors, Neonatal" , "Cardiorespiratory Monitors" , "Neonatal Monitors" , "Pulmonary Function Monitors" , "Apnea Alarms" , "Alarms, Apnea"
