Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify mutations in the ribonuclease L (2',5'-oligoisoadenylate synthetase-dependent) (RNASEL) gene, located at chromosome 1q25, which encodes for a component of the interferon response that functions in the antiviral and antiproliferative roles of the interferon response. This genetic mutation has been identified in patients with familial prostate cancer type 1.
