Recorders, Electronic Storage, Data, Urodynamic

Definition : Electronic storage data recorders designed to measure and record long-term (typically 24 hours) urodynamic data in ambulatory patients. These recorders typically include a portable (i.e., wearable) recorder to store data, electrodes to determine sphincter electromyography (EMG), and an appropriate urinary catheter to obtain data, including bladder and/or urethra pressure, urinary flow, and volume of micturition. Dedicated software for downloading the results in a standard computer (e.g., personal computer) is necessary for some recorders. Urodynamic electronic storage recorders are used to evaluate lower urinary tract functioning, including analysis of obstructions, bladder contractility, and incontinence; some recorders may be used as a component of a urodynamic measuring system.
