Definition : Saws designed to cut hard tissue (e.g., bone) during autopsy and dissection (i.e., postmortem) procedures. These saws are typically handheld, manual instruments with a sturdy metal structure, a handle, and a detachable, straight or curved, often serrated blade. Manual postmortem saws are intended to uniformly and accurately cut bones; dedicated postmortem saws intended to cut spinal bone structures are also available.
