Definition : Serology reagents intended to detect immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies to Haemophilus influenzae, a bacterium of the family Pasteurellaceae. These bacteria induce an inflammatory response that causes diseases. Encapsulated (polysaccharide) organisms of Haemophilus influenzae type B cause bacteremia and acute bacterial meningitis; they may occasionally cause other diseases (e.g., obstructive laryngitis, cellulitis, osteomyelitis, bacterial pneumonia).
