Definition : Microbiology reagents intended to identify species of Bartonella, a rod-shaped bacterium of the family Bartonellaceae, by detecting the target bacteria, usually through tests performed on bacteria cultures. Some species of these bacteria cause human infections, including benign lymphoreticulosis (cat-scratch disease); they are also associated with endocarditis.
