Definition : Molecular assay reagents intended to identify species of Treponema, a genus of bacteria of the family Spirochaetaceae, by detecting specific genetic information of the nucleic acid of the target bacteria. Some species of these bacteria cause syphilis; others may cause oral infections or pinta (carate).
