Definition : Stomach (gastric) surgical clamps designed for the atraumatic grasping or compression of the canal between the stomach and the duodenum (i.e., pylorus) during open-surgery procedures. These clamps are typically handheld, manual instruments with flat, long-nosed parallel jaws that are articulated (e.g., threaded) to a U-shape handle. Pylorus clamps are used in gastrointestinal procedures involving the pyloric sphincter.
