Definition : Brushes designed to remove debris from the surface of devices, instruments, and/or working areas. These brushes typically include a set of tufts of bristles or other flexible materials that are mounted along a single plane at the distal end of a handle or radiate from a central shaft for proper manipulation. Dedicated cleaning brushes of the appropriate shape, size, and materials are available for cleaning devices and instruments (e.g., burs, dilators, endoscopes), prostheses (e.g., dentures, hearing aids), and labware and for general surface cleaning (including housekeeping) in healthcare facilities.
