Decontaminants, Chemical Neutralization, Strong Base
Definition : Chemical neutralization decontamination products including strong bases as active components. These decontaminants may be either common bases or products specially designed for decontamination. Common strong bases used for decontamination include calcium hydroxide (Ca[OH]2), potassium hydroxide ([KOH], caustic soda), and sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Strong base decontaminants are effective for decontamination from nerve agents of the G series and VX, and/or mustard (HD).
