Reagents, Immunocytochemistry, Tumor Marker, Receptor Assay, Estrogen
Definition : Immunocytochemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative analyses on tissue preparations to determine a cellular regulatory protein that binds estrogenic hormones (i.e., cytoplasmic estrogen receptors). These receptors are especially found in estrogen-sensitive tissues (e.g., breast and uterus tissues). The assays are performed in surgically removed samples. Determination of the level of estrogen receptors is used as a marker of the response to endocrine therapy in diseases such as breast carcinoma.
