Testers, Electrosurgical Unit
Definition : Testers designed to assess the performance of electrosurgical units (ESUs). These testers can usually measure, evaluate, display, and/or record ESU generator power, current, peak voltage output, and radio-frequency current leakage using an appropriate test load. Most testers can also verify the operation of the neutral electrode contact quality monitor. These testers are typically an electronic unit with measuring devices (e.g., wattmeter, ammeter), displays, appropriate resistive loads, and test leads. ESU testers can test monopolar and bipolar ESUs; they may be manually operated or user programmable to run automatic test protocols for a specific ESU.
