IVD Test Reagent/Kits, Serology, Bacteria, Streptococcus Species, Antibody
Definition : Serology reagents intended to detect antibodies to species of Streptococcus, a genus of spherical bacteria of the family Streptococcaceae. Streptococci tend to grow in pairs or chains and are divided into many serogenic types according to their cell wall (e.g., groups A, B, and C). Streptococci that are pathogenic in humans include many species, such as S. pneumoniae (pneumococcus), a major respiratory tract pathogen and the most common cause of pneumonia, and S. pyogenes, which causes a wide range of suppurative diseases (e.g., pharyngitis, otitis media, sinusitis, endocarditis) and nonsuppurative sequelae (e.g., acute rheumatic fever).
