IVD Test Reagent/Kits, Clinical Chemistry, Enzyme, Lactate Dehydrogenase

Definition : Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analyses of body fluids (typically serum) to determine the level of the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase; this enzyme is typically measured indirectly (i.e., the enzyme "activity"). Methods used for lactate dehydrogenase determination may use either the forward reaction (i.e., the oxidation of L-lactate to pyruvate) or the reverse reaction (i.e., the reduction of pyruvate to L-lactate). Lactate dehydrogenase activity is typically increased in myocardial infarction, in liver diseases (especially toxic hepatitis with jaundice), and in some malignant diseases.

Entry Terms : "LD (Lactate Dehydrogenase) Determination Reagents" , "Lactate Dehydrogenase Activity Determination Reagents" , "Lactate Dehydrogenase (LD) Determination Reagents" , "Reagents, Clinical Chemistry, Enzyme, Lactate Dehydrogenase"
