Definition : Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analyses of body fluids (typically serum) to determine the level of the enzyme gamma glutamyltransferase (GGT). GGT in serum typically increases in all liver diseases; it is more sensitive and its levels elevate earlier than those of other enzymes in cases of obstructive jaundice, cholangitis, and cholecystitis; the level of GGT is highest in biliary obstructions.
