Definition : Drainage biliary catheters that are introduced into the biliary ducts, usually though a curved-tip guide wire previously placed using a needle and/or sheath. Typically, the needle/sheath is advanced under fluoroscopic guidance though the skin (percutaneously), liver capsule, and parenchyma before entry into the intrahepatic biliary ducts.
