Definition : Cardiac catheters designed to allow contrast material to be flushed, hand injected, or power injected with sufficient flow and volume to opacify cardiac and/or coronary artery structures during fluoroscopy and radiography. These catheters are available in a multitude of tip configurations, from simple straight tips with a single end hole to complex curves with numerous side holes. Angiographic cardiac catheters are used in combined hemodynamic and angiographic procedures undertaken for diagnostic purposes (cardiac catheterization), to confirm the presence of a clinically suspected condition, and to define the anatomic and physiological severity of the condition.
