Stimulators, Ultrasonic, Bone Growth
Definition : Ultrasonic stimulators designed to apply energy to the bones to promote their growth (osteogenesis). These stimulators usually consist of a pulsed low-intensity ultrasound generator that includes a transducer probe and a retaining and alignment fixture for the probe. Ultrasonic bone growth stimulators are mainly used to promote healing of nonunion fractures; they are also used to speed the healing of fresh fractures.
