Definition : Neodymium-doped yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) frequency-doubled lasers, usually operated in continuous-wave or pulsed modes, used in procedures requiring precise surgical excision, vaporization, or photocoagulation with minimal damage to surrounding tissue. The power density chosen for a given application determines the tissue interaction achieved at the operative site.
