Field Strength Meters
Definition : Measuring instruments designed to measure and display the power density of the field (i.e., field strength) in a given range of frequencies (e.g., from a few Hertz to a few Giga Hertz). These instruments are typically portable devices that consist of an electronic unit with controls and filters that permit a selection of the range of frequencies to be measured; electronic circuits; an internal or external antenna; and a display that shows the power density (typically in microwatt/cm2) . Field strength meters are used in health care facilities to determine possible electromagnetic radiation interference with medical device function and to help localize the source of interference.
