Definition : Surgical instruments designed to apply torque to screws and bolts used for placement (i.e., driving) dental implants. These screwdrivers typically are miniature handheld manual instruments consisting of a cylindrical handle and an axial shaft with a slotted or cruciform (i.e., Philips) tip with the size appropriate to handle screws and bolts inside the oral cavity. Dental implant screwdrivers can be dedicated for appropriate manipulation of particular types of implants.
