Adaptometers

Definition : Ophthalmic measuring instruments designed to determine dark adaptation by providing a stimulating light source that has varying controlled intensities. The devices usually consist of a computerized control panel, light sources, a test unit, and a response recording mechanism to provide light stimuli of varying brightness to the subjects. Adaptometers are used for detection of night blindness and its associated underlying conditions, as well as other eye problems.
