Hot Plates

Definition : Tabletop devices designed to heat substances (i.e., solid, liquids) in containers placed on them. These devices typically consist of a flat surface that is heated by electrically powered heating coils or, less frequently, by gas-fueled flames. Hot plates are available in single-, double-, and multiple-burner configurations; they are intended for a variety of uses such as laboratory warming/heating of solutions (typically in glassware containers), nurse station procedures, and food preparation.
