Catheters, Rectal, Barium Enema
Definition : Rectal catheters designed for administering barium, a contrast medium. These catheters consist of a rubber or plastic tube that sometimes also includes a silicone rubber balloon (i.e., retention balloon) tip. Barium enema catheters are used for colonoscopy; catheters including balloons are mostly used in incontinent patients who are extremely difficult to examine without use of a balloon tip.
