Definition : Electrical safety monitors designed to assess defects or loss of the ground connection of electrical equipment and/or instruments and alarm if the ground impedance is more than a pre-established limit. Some monitors provide an alternative path to ground should the equipment ground become faulty. These monitors are mostly used to detect loss of isolation in explosive environments.
