Definition : Laboratory analyzers used to determine the concentration of chloride in body fluids (e.g., serum, plasma, urine). These analyzers are based on amperometric, colorimetric, or mercury titration methods. Dedicated chloride analyzers are used to assess abnormal concentration of chloride found in the serum of patients with chronic pyelonephritis, Addison's disease, lactic acidosis, renal failure, and diabetic acidosis.
