Definition : Nonrefrigerated low-speed floor centrifuges used to centrifuge solutions of suspended red blood cells, enhancing agglutination and promoting the formation of packed cells at the bottom of the container (e.g., tubes, bags). Most blood bank centrifuges have a timer connected to the motor that allows timed use, and mechanical or electric brakes; refrigeration is an available option in some models.
