Laboratory Equipment Holders, Thermometer

Definition : Holders designed to hold long glass thermometers in a certain position (e.g., upright in a beaker) while being used in the laboratory or other setting to do temperature readings, usually of liquids. These holders can be various shapes and sizes and are usually made of metal or plastic or a combination of these materials. Thermometer holders usually have some type of clamp on one end to attach to a surface (e.g., a beaker, glassware, or a lab stand) and an apparatus that extends from the clamp and holds the thermometer on the other end; the thermometer-holding end may consist of another clamp or surface with holes into which the thermometer is inserted. Thermometer holders typically have some type of rubber, foam, or plastic padding to keep the thermometer from breaking while it is being held in a certain position.
