Lenses, Intraocular

Definition : Lenses designed to be implanted permanently, they are usually intended to replace the natural cataractous crystalline human eye lens and restore useful vision. These lenses, typically made of plastic, are mostly implanted following cataract removal (i.e., in aphakic eyes). Some intraocular lenses may be used for refractive correction without previous extraction of the natural lens.
