Universal Whole Body DXA Phantom
Company : Orthometrix Inc
UMDC Code : 409549
To date, there was no simple way to calibrate DXA systems for the measurements of the entire body. This new phantom was developed by Dr. Pierre Braillon with the main concern that each region presents a bone mineral content and density (BMC & BMD) equivalent, and a composition in lean mass and fat mass equivalent in agreement with the mean values found in the general population for the same body height. Thus, a precise assessment of the three components, bone mass, lean tissue mass and fat mass of the entire body, as well as of specific regions of interest, especially arms and legs is possible. It also allows to achieve the reproducibility of measurements at the lumbar spine level, and at the hip (3 adjustable density values for the femoral neck region). Therefore, it can be considered as a three-phantoms in one.
