Overview: Lucas Medical, Inc. (LMI), a California based medical device manufacturing organization, was established to develop, manufacture and market superior alternatives to existing vascular products. The Company was incorporated in the State of California in September 1994.
LMI utilizes its patented process for the formation of silicone balloons on to catheters. The technology is documented in two patents, which have recently been approved by the United States Patent Office. The initial patent was issued in June 1998. The Company has also developed the capability to produce precision wire reinforced silicone catheter tubing. This unique process prevents any possibility of movement of the wire within the tubing. It essentially provides LMI with the ability to produce catheters with a "built-in" stylet that eliminates the possibility of the vessel perforation that currently occurs with loose, removable stylets incorporated on competitive catheters.
