The model MDA-41 has precisely the same operational characteristics and specifications as the model MDA-4 when the IMPEDANCE mode switch is in the NORMAL OPERATION position. When the IMPEDANCE mode switch is in either test position both inputs to the amplifier of the probe stage are grounded. The probe input connectors are reconfigured to connect to the impedance test circuitry of the probe. In the IMP. TEST + or the IMP. TEST - position of the IMPEDANCE mode switch, an AC constant current source is applied to the appropriate input lead and the impedance of its electrode is read on the meter.

The MDA-3 and MDA-4 are high performance preamplifiers designed specifically for low level AC neurological and cardiac signals from high impedance electrodes. Both instruments utilize a small, very high input impedance differential head stage to minimize capacitive signal loss and noise pick-up. The probe is small enough to be mounted close to the preparation and comes equipped with short minigator leads for clipping to metal microelectrodes.
