The Advanced Model BR2 Bilirubin STAT-Analyzer® provides a rapid, accurate determination of total and direct bilirubin in neonates. And because it's so compact and easy to use, it is appropriate for virtually any laboratory.
The Model BR2 is the most convenient method - it's the only instrument that measures total and direct bilirubin from a single 30µL Sample.
This test system is classified as non-waived per CLIA Final Rule (published in January 2003, effective April 24, 2003).

Total and direct bilirubin from the same 30µL sample
(Advanced Instruments) Use this photometer for the determination of total and direct bilirubin in infant sera. From one 30µL sample, you get results for total bilirubin instantaneously and direct bilirubin in 2 minutes. The unit features compact design and includes a digital readout panel. Linearity to 30 ±0.2mg/dL total bilirubin. Dual wavelength measurement minimizes the effect of hemolysis interference. Any bilirubin determination may be run on a stat or batch basis. This is not a waived test under CLIA regulation.

Using light instead of a needle, BiliChek allows you to test bilirubin levels without regard to gender, gestational age, or bodyweight – and without needing a blood sample. Only the replaceable plastic tip touches the baby, so BiliChek greatly reduces the risk of infection or cross contamination. Resting lightly on the baby’s head or sternum, this revolutionary handheld unit gives you instant results — allowing you to make immediate treatment decisions while reducing the costs and time associated with blood chemistry analysis. BiliChek is approved for use before, during and post phototherapy a

The BiliChek measures total serum bilirubin levels with no pain, no waiting and no risk of infection compared to the traditional heel stick method or blood draw. Using light, BiliChek tests bilirubin levels without regard to gender, gestational age or bodyweight. Only the replaceable plastic tip touches the baby’s forehead, which reduces the risk of infection or cross contamination. The hand-held unit gives almost instantaneous results so treatment decisions can be made more quickly. Can be used in the home or hospital setting. Rechargeable batteries provide at least 100 measurements per charg

Reichert’s UNISTAT Bilirubinometer is a stat photometric analyzer for determining total bilirubin concentration in newborn infants. It measures for Hyperbilirubinemia in less than 5 seconds. Independent laboratory tests have correlated this instrument to HPLC laboratory methods, considered the gold standard in accuracy. Because the analyzer is simple to use and calibrate, it requires very little training.
