Indication: Test system for the in vitro determination of antibodies against gliadin-analogous
fusion peptides in human serum or plasma for the diagnosis of the following diseases: glutensensitive
enteropathy (coeliac disease, sprue), dermatitis herpetiformis (Duhring’s disease).
Clinical signifi cance: Coeliac disease (or coeliac sprue) is an autoimmune disease caused in
predisposed individuals by consumption of gluten-containing cereal products. The disease is
characterised by atrophy of the small-intestinal villi, chronic diarrhoea and the consequences
of malabsorption. Coeliac disease is a

The Biohit Anti-gliadin IgA and IgG kits are intended for the quantitative determination of human anti-gliadin IgA and IgG in serum. The tests offer a convenient non-invasive laboratory method for the sensitive screening of patients with suspected celiac disease. The negative result for the IgA test should be viewed with caution as approximately 2 of sufferers have an IgA deficiency. The monitoring of the disappearance of gliadin antibodies during gluten-free diet can be used to indicate successful elimination of gluten from the diet. The test is also useful in the screening of dermatititis he

Anti-Gliadin antibodies are found in patients with Coeliac disease. This is a relatively
common disease and can affect between one in three hundred to one in two thousand
adults depending on the country. Gliadin is a mixture of around 50 components and has
a molecular weight of 16-40kD. Gliadin can be divided into four major fractions
according to electrophoretic mobility. Studies have shown that these fractions as well as
prolamins contained in barley, oats and rye have toxic effects on patients with Coeliac

the absorptive area to macromolecules. This leads to increased antibody

The Zeus Scientific, Inc. Gliadin IgA ELISA test system is intended for the qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of IgA-class antibodies to gliadin in human serum. The test system is intended to be used as an aid in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal disorders, mainly Coeliac Disease. This test is for in vitro diagnostic use.
Patient samples and controls are run in the same way.
Sample Diluent uses SAVe technology. This technology displays a visiual color change upon addition of patient samples.
Calculated results that are not a function of subjective interpertation.

Gluten sensitive enteropathy (GSE), i.e. celiac disease (CD) and dermatitis herpetiformis
(DH), is a common clinically heterogenous gastrointestinal disorder with sensitivity to gluten,
and can exhibit with non-classic or minimal symptoms1. There is some genetic component
associated with GSE which is illustrated by showing, that approximately 5-10 of first
degree relatives have symptomatic or asymptomatic CD. Children with short stature and
patients with insulin dependent diabetes and other autoimmune disorders also demonstrate
a greater likelihood of developing GSE . Strict avoidance of glute
