Intended Use
The BD Vacutainer™ CPT™ Cell Preparation Tube
with Sodium Citrate is an evacuated tube intended
for the collection of whole blood and the separation
of mononuclear cells. The cell separation medium is
comprised of a polyester gel and a density gradient
liquid. This configuration permits cell separation
during a single centrifugation step. The separated
sample can be transported without being removed
from the BD Vacutainer™ CPT™ Tube since the gel
forms a stable barrier between the cell layers.

The BD Vacutainer® Luer-Lok™ Access Device is compatible with a needleless IV site designed for luer-lock access and can be used with a BD Vacutainer® No Additive (Z) Plus Tube 6.0 mL • 13 x 100 mm to clear the line and discard fluid prior to specimen collection.
Please refer to your facility’s recommended policies and procedures when flushing a catheter line.
Procedure Note:
Allow natural vacuum of tube to draw specimen into tube. Evacuated tubes are designed to draw the volume indicated. Filling is complete when vacuum no longer continues to

INTENDED USE
The SEDITAINER Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) System is for collection of blood
specimens for the measurement of ESR within the blood collection tube, using the
SEDITAINER ESR Stand.
SUMMARY AND PRINCIPLES OF SYSTEM
The SEDITAINER Tube provides a means of collecting and testing blood in a closed evacuated
system. The tube contains 1.25 mL of 0.105 Molar (M) buff e red sodium citrate solution,
giving a 4:1 blood to additive ratio when the evacuated tube is correctly filled to its 5 mL draw
volume. The SEDITAINER Tube provides a means to measure the ESR (mm/h) without the
